The Buddha Print

I’m a 150-year-old Western Red Cedar from East Sooke region.

When I was about 13 years old, there was a drought – notice where the grain is tight? 107 years later, when I was 120, I experienced a major trauma – perhaps a nasty woodpecker pecked me or maybe a fellow tree landed on me, I’m not sure. The trauma caused an indent and my rings converged. Over the 30 years since, I tried to heal myself, and I think I did a great job!

The black rings represent my winter growth; whereas the white rings represent my summer growth.
