What is diamond microdermabrasion?

Diamond microdermabrasion is a non-invasive skincare treatment that exfoliates and rejuvinates the skin with a diamond tip. The diamond tip is gently moved across the skin’s surface, exfoliating the dead skin cells and smoothing the skin’s texture. In addition to the diamond tip, the microdermabrasion device features a suction mechanism. This suction helps to further enhance the exfoliation process by pulling out the debris, dead skin cells, and other impurities from the skin. The combination of diamond exfoliation and suction promotes improved blood circulation, collagen production, and the growth of new skin cells.

What does microdermabrasion do?

It improves the texture, tone and overall appearance of the skin by removing dead skin cells and promoting cellular turnover.

How does microdermabrasion work?

During microdermabrasion treatment, Kaitlin uses a machine with a diamond head that exfoliates the skin’s superficial layer. The exfoliation process removes dead skin cells, stimulates collagen production, and encourages the growth of new, healthier skin cells.

How often should you come in for microdermabrasion?

The recommendation for microdermabrasion sessions varies depending on several factors, including your skin type, specific concerns, and the desired results. It’s recommneded that you have the treatment done every 2-4 weeks to see optimal results. Kaitlin can analyze your skin and provide a personalized plan on the best treatment interval for you.

Does microdermabrasion help remove blackheads?

Microdermabrasion is effective in removing blackheads by sucking and exfoliating the skin and removing dead cells and debris, it also unclogs pores and helps to prevent future blackheads from forming.

How does the suction improve the effects of the microdermabrasion?

The suction component of diamond microdermabrasion serves multiple purposes. Apart from removing the exfoliated debris, it also stimulates the lymphatic system, aiding in the removal of toxins and reducing puffiness. It also helps to increase the penetration of skincare products applied afterward, allowing them to better nourish and hydrate the freshly exfoliated skin.

What is the difference between crystal and diamond head microdermabrasion?

Crystal and diamond head microdermabrasion machines are the most popular types of devices on the market. Crystal machines use a wand that emits fine aluminum oxide crystals that are sprayed onto the skin and then vacuumed away along with dead skin cells.

Diamond head machines, which is what we have chosen to use at our medical aesthetics clinic, have a wand tipped with diamond particles that physically exfoliate the skin while also suctioning away the dead skin.

We chose to use a diamond microdermabrasion machine for a number of reasons including, the abrasive nature of the crystals that can be harsh on the skin and cause possible inflammation. Also, it is common for leftover crystals to remain on the skin as can be difficult to remove and clean up.

Crystal machines are being phased out and replaced with diamond machines because the procedure can be very messy when crystals are used, these old systems are being phased out. The Diamond Peel is safe, effective, gentle, clean, won't leave any residue on the skin, and allows you to see exactly how much dead skin and debris is removed.
